PEDCO JOBS ANNOUNCEMENT

New Jobs in Pueblo!

CR Minerals announces new manufacturing facility in Pueblo

Monday, May 8, 2017 – 4:00 p.m. MST – UPDATED 5/9/17 @ 12:30 pm MST

PUEBLO – CR Minerals is a leading worldwide producer of high-quality pumice products, based in New Mexico.  They have a range of applications including an additive in cement for stone veneer, concrete block, landscape rock and other uses in the construction industry.  The expansion into the Colorado market brings a new product which mixes a fly ash product with their pumice (from their mine in New Mexico), which makes cement last longer in the ready mix process. CR Minerals will be located at the St. Charles Industrial Park.

CR Minerals made the announcement at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 8, 2017. Details of the project include:

  • Approximately $4.9 million in capital investment
  • 17 new full-time jobs to be in place by October 1, 2019
  • $250,000 from the City of Pueblo’s half-cent fund for economic development (contingent on approval from the Pueblo City Council)

“CR Minerals Company, LLC is very excited about coming to Pueblo.  The city and our experience so far represents a confluence of characteristics that we feel will be instrumental to the success of our business,” said Jeff Widden, President of CR Minerals Co.  Whidden continues by saying, “For instance, PEDCO and the City have been very easy to work with as we selected our location and then progressed toward construction.  The benefits that stem from the city’s 1/2 cent sales tax has additionally created an economically stimulating environment in which incentives have been provided to get our business off the ground and create a base for future growth.  And last, but certainly not least, is the people of Pueblo where we will be able to draw from a strong employment base and gain employees that will help us not only succeed but thrive and grow.” In summary, Widden says, “In short, this new plant and location for CR Minerals represents an extremely important step for the growth of our company and we couldn’t envision it being situated in a better location than the city of Pueblo.”

“Pueblo is thrilled to be selected as the location for CR Mineral‘s new facility,” said Jeff Shaw, President and CEO of PEDCO. “This is yet another example of how PEDCO and our partners collaborate to bring great jobs and economic opportunity to the community.  The investment from the City of Pueblo’s half-cent sales tax fund and  Pueblo amazing workforce and infrastructure were essential components in securing this project.”

PEDCO Celebrates International Economic Development Week

Pueblo Economic Development Corporation Recognizes Importance of Economic Development during National Celebration Week

PUEBLO – Next week, Pueblo Economic Development Corporation (PEDCO), along with the Colorado Economic Development Council of Colorado (EDCC) and the State of Colorado will celebrate Economic Development Week, with seven days of national recognition of economic developers who generate growth, create better jobs for residents and facilitate an improved quality of life.

Economic Development Week is an event created by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) in 2016 to celebrate achievements within the economic development profession.  The IEDC council is the largest professional membership organization for economic development.

All week, PEDCO will be highlighting Economic Development Week on our website and social media.  Be sure to check out our daily posts on Facebook and Twitter to see how we are commemorating Economic Development Week and celebrating the great work economic developers do in Colorado.

PEDCO Chairman of the Board, Brian Moore, spoke to the work of PEDCO and Economic Development Week, saying,  “Good economic development is the lifeblood of any community. The very definition of a primary job means that we’re injecting revenue from outside the community that funds our schools, transportation, and other community priorities. These are the jobs that PEDCO focuses on help build a better Pueblo for our children and grandchildren. This is just one reason I’m excited to be affiliated with PEDCO.”

“Pueblo’s dedication to economic development, combined with our incredible workforce brought us out of the tough times we faced in the early 80s,” added Jeff Shaw, President, and CEO of PEDCO.  “Through a dedicated effort in economic development, with a great community economic development team, Pueblo will become the community we vision and want for our children.”
