Big R announces expansion!

 

PUEBLO – Big R, the largest farm, ranch, and retail chain in Colorado will expand its distribution warehouse and facilities in Pueblo, CO.  Big R, founded in 1962 in the towns of Lamar and La Junta, began as a small family owned and operated business. From the inception, Big R has been the dominant farm, ranch, and home retail chain in the Arkansas Valley of Colorado.  Big R has grown from 25 employees to 600 employees with 25 stores.  Big R’s distribution warehouse and facilities in Pueblo currently employ 70 employees.

 

Big R made the announcement at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 28, 2016. Details of the project include:

 

  • Approximately $11.0 million in capital investment
  • 33 new full-time jobs to be in place by January 1, 2020.
  • Average wage of $64,315 including benefits.
  • $1,494,000 from the City of Pueblo’s half-cent fund for economic development (contingent on approval from the Pueblo City Council)
  • $6,856,000 loan from the City of Pueblo’s half-cent fund for economic development (contingent on approval from the Pueblo City Council) payable with interest over 10 years.

Vestas announces expansion of its facility in Pueblo, CO

 

PUEBLO – Vestas, the world’s leader in wind energy will expand its manufacturing facility in Pueblo, CO.  Founded in 1898 as a blacksmith shop in western Denmark, Vestas started producing wind turbines in 1979, and have since gained a market-leading position with 76 GW of installed wind power and more than 63 GW under service globally.  Vestas has been manufacturing turbine towers in Pueblo, CO since 2009.  The facility in Pueblo is the largest tower manufacturing facility in the world.

Vestas made the announcement at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2016. Details of the project include:

  • Approximately $18.5 million in capital investment
  • 108 new full-time jobs to be in place by October 1, 2016
  • $2,484,000 from the City of Pueblo’s half-cent fund for economic development (contingent on approval from the Pueblo City Council)

In 2015, wind energy accounted for about 25 percent of new energy installations globally. The cost of wind energy varies regionally, but it’s coming down across the board for wind and is basically in the same price range as coal and gas in many markets. This development is fueling our continued growth here in Pueblo.”

Manufactured stone maker to open 51-worker Pueblo factory

A manufactured stone veneer company plans to open a 51-worker regional factory at an existing building at the Pueblo Airport Industrial Park. Coronado Stone Products, founded in 1959 and based in Fontana, Calif., expects remodeling work to begin immediately with plans to open by early next year, company president Scott Ebersole said.

Luxury bath and body products maker takes Pueblo incentives

The Pueblo Economic Development Corporation on Wednesday celebrated the expansion of one of those small local businesses — Formulary 55, a luxury, small bath and body products company.

Formulary will benefit from Pueblo City Council’s half-cent tax assistance program aimed at helping small businesses in Pueblo County.

The company’s owners, PEDCO officials, Pueblo City Council President Steve Nawrocki and Pueblo County Commissioner Terry Hart and others gathered Wednesday afternoon in the lobby of El Pueblo History Museum to celebrate the agreement. Formulary 55 received a $37,500 gift grant through the half-cent tax program.
